If I have previously written a post about a staple then it will be linked to that post.
T-shirts must always be fitted. Otherwise, follow the rules for casual shirts.
You need to find shirts that have a boat neck, flowing sleeves or anything that is going to pull attention up to your bust. Make sure that it can be tucked in or that it is cropped to your waist. Anything longer than that is going to put attention on your hips.
Look for blouses with ruffles on the bust, cap sleeves, a wider neck opening or anything like that. Patterns and stripes are also good. Make sure you get a blouse that can be tucked in.
Cowl neck sweaters, wide sleeve sweaters, boleros, and sweaters with ruffles on top are all good ideas. Try for lighter weight sweaters that can be tucked in to pants or jeans or sweaters that aren’t going to rest too low on your hips.
A great thing for a pear would be a blazer that has a contrasting lapel to really bring the attention up to your bust. You can also go with a jacket that has puffy or squared shoulders. Cropped blazers are perfect for your body type as well.
Skirts and Mini Skirts:
Any skirts that hug your legs are bad. It will make your butt look bigger. You want a skirt that falls straight from your hips or has a slight flare to it. I suggest a skirt that has a waist that hits at your natural waist to prevent muffin top.
I DON’T RECOMMEND SKINNY JEANS FOR ANY BODY TYPE.
That being said… If you must wear skinny jeans do not wear low-rise skinny jeans. Do not let your shirts fall to your hips. You want at least a mid-rise. I recommend high-rise, but that’s even harder to find. Tuck in your shirts or wear cropped shirts. If you’re wearing skinny jeans and the bottom of your skirt is sitting across your hips that will make your hips look extra wide.
Mid-rise, wide leg or bootcut jeans look best when trying to minimize a bigger booty. Dark wash is best. Whiskering is a big NO-NO. Bell-bottom jeans can make your butt look extra wide.
Wide leg pants not only minimize your hips, but also elongate your legs. They are going to be your best bet. As with jeans go with a mid to high-rise pant. Watch the size of the waistband. Some wider waistbands can make the hips appear larger.
The greatest LBDs for pear shapes are going to be dresses that have wide-set straps, a boatneck, flowy sleeves, or a wide, low scoopneck. Make sure the skirt is straight down from the hips or has a slight flow away from your body.
Wear a romper that puts very little emphasis on your bottom half. You can go with a romper that has a wide neckline, a ruched bust or sleeves, or ruffles on the bust. Another thing you can do is find a romper that is a little baggy on top so that it hangs over the waist – as long as the waist is cinched in.
If you’re a pear shape then your biggest problems are your butt, hips and thighs. Whether you’re looking for a one-piece or a two-piece you want to accentuate your bust and minimize your bottom half. There are more than a few easy ways to do this. You can wear a suit that has brighter colors on top and darker colors on bottom. You can find swimwear with patterns on the top and a solid color bottom. You can also slip into a swimsuit that has a few ruffles on top and a very plain bottom. Any mixture of the three will work well, too.
