How To Wear T-shirts… Part II

Standard

Continuing on in our week of staples, we come to T-shirts. I know I’ve already posted about tees, but I was just showing a basic concept for each body type. However, in this post we’re going to explore their versatility for every body type.

Pear

We chose two tees, both have a wide neck and a sort of “flow off the shoulder” look. This look will help to balance out your hips. Remember to tuck in the shirt so as not to have a line across the hips. (Neither of these tees come in plus sizes, but you can find a tee that works just as well as these here.)

T-shirt - Pear

Mango slim fit shirt, £11
Splendid t shirt, $29
Pleated pants, $275
Paul Costelloe pencil skirt, £39
Short shorts, $40
Giuseppe Zanotti ballerina flat, €345
Dirty Laundry red sandals, $20
ASOS flat shoes, $27
R J Graziano tahitian pearl necklace, $85
Danielle Stevens Jewelry long gold necklace, $92

Boy

You either want to wear a t-shirt that breaks up your torso and gives you shape or wear a plane tee and let the rest of the outfit do the work. I picked two tees that do some work, but this will also show you how to let the rest of the outfit pick up some slack as well. (Neither of these tees come in plus sizes, but you can find a tee that works just as well as these here.)

T-shirt - Boy

Oasis viscose shirt, $27
Mango striped tee, £9.90
Orla Kiely yellow coat, €90
DVb Victoria Beckham skinny leg jeans, $210
Big Star slimming shorts, $78
Lipsy scalloped shorts, £35
Andre Assous canvas shoes, $935
Lace sneaker, $418
Rampage shoes, $40
TopShop bangles jewelry, £3.50

Apples

I’m going to use a plain t-shirt to show you how to style any t-shirt for your body type. But if you can find a color-blocked tee like the one shown, all the better! (Neither of these tees come in plus sizes, but you can find a tee that works just as well as these here.)

T-shirt - Apple

Madewell chiffon top, $52
Short sleeve tee, £4
Yellow coat, £35
Yves Saint Laurent silk skirt, £330
Slimming pants, $275
Diane von Fürstenberg pleated shorts, £96
Diane von Fürstenberg sandals, €231
Steve Madden rhinestone flat shoes, $75
Forever 21 velvet shoes, $23
ABS Allen Schwartz gold tone jewelry, $150

Hourglass

You can wear pretty much any style of tee as long as you tuck it in and avoid muffin top. (Neither of these tees come in plus sizes, but you can find a tee that works just as well as these here or here.)

T-shirt - hourglass

RED Valentino lace top, £149
Rebel Yell v neck tee, £41
Alexander McQueen mid rise jeans, $227
Mango bermuda shorts, £9.90
H M short skirt, £13
Free Lance Paris gray boots, $895
Blowfish sandals, €89
Nine west flat, $35

Column

You can actually let a t-shirt hang around your waist because of your body type. The line it creates will make your hips appear wider.  But I also found a cute tee with ruffles on the hips. (Neither of these tees come in plus sizes, but you can find a tee that works just as well as these here.)

t-shirt - -column

RED Valentino scoop neck top, £110
Jane Norman layering tee, £5
Coat, $97
Lanvin high waisted mini skirt, $1,862
True Religion distressing jeans, €268
TopShop faux leather shorts, $20
Black shoes, $1,671
Reed Krakoff leather ballerina flat, £380
Shine shoes, $30
Zara sash belt, $30
